Holiday in Washington DC
This is our first time using Trusted Housesitters. My husband and I are returned Peace Corps Volunteers who love to travel, hike, and enjoy trying new foods. We are headed home for Christmas for the first time in a few years and are looking for someone to look after our well behaved pets while we're out of town.
Our Home & Location
Our home is a very short ride into DC. We live in Alexandria, right outside of DC. We live in a wonderful, diverse townhome area with lots of restaurants nearby. Our backyard lets out onto a park which has a running/biking/walking trail that runs through it. We frequently let our dog out here to run around when no other dogs are around.
There is free street parking in our neighborhood and there's a bus that runs very close to our house that will take you directly to the metro.
Responsibilities & Pets
Both our dog and cats have automatic pet feeders. Our house sitters would just need to fill the dog feeder every 2 days, check the levels of the cat feeder and both water bowls. We also need a sitter to clean out the cat litter every few days. None of our animals need special care or medicine. We also have a doggie door installed for Maeby to let herself in and out. You might need to encourage her to go outside if it's raining, but generally she goes in and out herself.
Maeby is a 7 year old staffie and has been dubbed the loveable hippo. She loves nothing more than snuggling up to you on the couch. She can be a little protective of her humans if another dog is around, but she is easily redirected and if introduced properly she love to play one on one with other dogs....
Tuk Tuk, our 5 year old torbie is the sweetest cat alive. She loves to snuggle and have her head pet. She figured out how to use the doggie dog and lets herself in and out as she pleases.
Pepe, our black medium hair cat has a cerebellar hypoplasia, which means his balance is off and he tends to fall over a lot. He doesn't know life any other way and always just gets right back up. + More info
