Looking for pet and house sitter
I live on Bliss Point Farm near the mountains 25 minutes outside the hip city of Charlottesville, VA in a wonderful, recently, beautifully renovated turn-of-the-19th century farmhouse. I travel monthly on business and also sometimes take longer trips. You can come for one stay or become a regular. My 4-footed farmily--Loki, Moppy, Milo--and I love sharing our cosy, warm home with friends and visitors. Everyone is easy-going and fun. Sit under the golden tree in the backyard! You must like to hike and have good walking shoes to walk the dogs along the Lynch River. A true retreat!
Our Home & Location
Bliss Point Farm is owned by my wonderful landlords, Sarah and Reimer. The property used to be the old Nortonsville Store in the days when villages in the country had their own commercial hub. In the last 5 years, they have renovated the store and adjacent buildings, including an old schoolhouse, into a B&B. I am living in the rental house, which is behind the old store. All the windows are south-facing, so in the morning, the house is filled with light. I have lived here for 2.5 years very happily and have free run of the whole farm with dogs and visitors. The kitchen is modern and well-appointed. Take advantage of my large selection of teas and sit and read in the upstairs sitting area of the master bedroom overlooking the old schoolhouse on the property. The Shenandoah Park, with wonderful hiking trails, is 20 minutes drive from my place. I also bike on the winding country roads where I have a full view of the mountains. There is a lot of antiquing in the area, as well as a pottery shop. Charlottesville has been rated over many years as one of the best places to visit and live. Walk the Downtown Mall and find a tantalizing selection of restaurants and cafes. Of course, Charlottesville is the home of Thomas Jefferson's Monticello and James Madison's Ash Lawn. Theater and a vibrant music scene. Much to do. If you want to stay close to home, there are walking trails on and near the property. Sit on the massive rocks by the Lynch River and listen to its soothing voice. A place to refresh, rejuvenate and relax! Oh, and my dogs and cats just LOVE visitors and will make you feel very welcome! :-)
Responsibilities & Pets
Sitters would need to give morning and evening feedings to dogs and cats. The dogs do one morning and one nighttime "walkabout" on the farm to do their business. I usually take them on a 20-30 minute walk on the forest and riverside trails on the property between late morning and early afternoon. However, the bigger walk can be adjusted for your schedule. All my animals are healthy, with no need for medications.
