Comfortable home full of loving furballs!
We have a nice suburban home and a lovely fur family who need some loving care while we are away. They love attention and have lots of love to share too. Four kitties, Mr. Lucky, Houdini, Lucy & Stormi plus one sweet doggie girl, Ms. Beaudette.
Our Home & Location
We live in a really lovely neighborhood on the edge of Newport News bordered by the city park with great neighbors! We have a comfortable 3 bdrm home, 2 of the rooms are set up as bedrooms; one room is our sauna/relaxation/massage room and a bonus room has some exercise equipment available for your use and our office. The sauna is a full spectrum infrared sauna that you may also enjoy. My kitchen is fully stocked if you enjoy cooking. We have a nice yard little fenced backyard. We also enjoy a nice patio facing the setting sun, but with plenty of shade trees to still enjoy the yard in the afternoon and evening. We have central air conditioning and heat throughout our home and a gas fireplace in the family room. We do not allow any smoking in the home/garage. We do not mind tidy smokers outside.
We are located in Newport News and we are very close to the Newport News/Williamsburg airport. We live close to the more rural farm areas in York County as we are on the edge of York County and Newport News city limits. We are still only about 5 miles from the city center with shops, dining, a beautiful fountain area and the farmers market during summertime. We have several nice grocery stores nearby and a Whole Foods and Costco about 15 min away. You don't have to have a car as there is transit locally with buses, light rail, trollies and ferries. However to best explore the area a car would certainly be helpful....
Virginia is for lovers! At least that is the state slogan. But we love Virginia too! We are in the northern part of the Hampton Roads area. To the south across the bridge/tunnels you will find VA Beach, Norfolk, Chesapeake, Suffolk and many more. The famed Chesapeake Bay Bridge and Tunnel will take you to the eastern shores of VA. The Outer Banks of North Carolina are just a few hours away where you can see the spot of first flight by the Wright Brothers. We live right below America's historic triangle of Yorktown, Jamestown and Williamsburg, VA. You can enjoy so much history all minutes away by visiting Colonial Williamsburg, taking the Colonial Parkway drive or visiting Jamestown or the Yorktown battlefields. The Colonial Parkway is a twenty-three mile scenic roadway stretching from the York River at Yorktown to the James River at Jamestown and it is lovely! The Hampton Roads area is also home to many Military installations.
We have museums galore if that is your thing! If Hampton Roads is a playground, the region's museums are its jungle gyms and tree forts. We are blessed by a stunning variety of museums; both the traditional and the unique and eclectic. Many of these are considered to be among the best institutions of their kind in the nation. There are over 90 in the area. We have art and history museums; war museums, historical parks and so much more. The Virginia Air and Space Museum is in Hampton and in Newport News we have the Virginia Mariners' Museum and Park and The Virginia Living Museum. The Hampton Roads Naval Museum is in Norfolk across the water.
Spring is lovely in Virginia. Lots of festivals and all the parks and beaches are starting to open up. We are just minutes from the lovely Newport News City Park. There is also the Newport News Golf Club at Deer Run and Kiln Creek Golf Club and Resort each about 10 min away from us. VA boasts 280+ wineries. Summer is fantastic with hiking, biking and water sports galore. We have Yorktown Beach about 15 min up the road, Buckroe Beach about 20 min away, VA Beach is about 45 miles away and countless more up and down the coast. There is also Busch Gardens which touts itself as America's most beautiful amusement park! Fall will provide you with amazing colors and more festivals and fairs than one can attend in a season! Winter brings whale migration for whale and dolphin watching. Plus there are lots of winter hikes to take or tour the many light festivals, then relax by the fire and enjoy the season.
We appreciate if our sitter can come at least a day before we leave to meet the fur family and see our routine. I include this one day early in my dates listed. You are welcome to come earlier or stay longer as our guest as well. We love Virginia and there is so much to explore and learn about this amazing, history rich state. If you expand on your trip outside of the sitting dates you could also visit some of the many National Parks, National Historic Sites and state parks VA has to offer, as well as Washington D.C. a few hours north! Check out Virginia.org for more info. + More info
Responsibilities & Pets
I will need a kind, caring person(s) to feed my kitties and dog twice a day, give Lucille her medicine, change some towel litter boxes, walk the pooch and give loves to everyone. No poop scooping needed unless at the dog park. They all eat a raw diet and I will have it all supplied and ready to dish up.
