Dog-lover who enjoys a mountain view
My husband and I are empty-nesters who travel occasionally for business and pleasure. Chloe is our friendly and healthy 13 year old goldendoodle.
Our Home & Location
Our home is a large 4 bedroom, 2.5 bath home in beautiful Roanoke, VA, near many of the most beautiful hikes of the Appalachian Trail. There is a queen bed guestroom, 1 twin, 1 double futon in the TV room, plus one 1 mattress under the twin bed. The entry level contains a gourmet kitchen, dining and living area. The second level is bedrooms and bathrooms, top level contains a TV room. The house has an atrium that goes up three floors in the center, so care must be taken with very young children. It has many stairs (4 floors), so mobility is essential.
Just a 5-minute drive to the bottom of the mountain are grocery stores and restaurants. Come and enjoy the great views off the back deck and unwind....
This area is known for its hiking, biking, and kayaking options. Downtown (a quick 20 min. drive) is full of music and entertainment on the weekends. Roanoke is an up-and-coming community that has attracted many micro-breweries including Ballast Point's new East Coast Brewery and Deschutes' newest tasting room. A running and biking Greenway follows the Roanoke River throughout the Roanoke area and makes a great place to get some exercise or just people watch. Check out the Visit Roanoke website to see the great things happening in the area: https://www.visitroanokeva.com/

Responsibilities & Pets
Your responsibilities would include feeding Chloe twice a day (AM and PM) and letting her out in the morning, mid-day, after dinner, and before bedtime. Chloe likes hikes and walks, but due to her age generally cannot go more than about 2 miles. Daily walks would be nice, but certainly not necessary.
We will hold our mail. Newspapers will be delivered daily, but you are welcome to read them and then save them in a pile for our return. We have a small garden now, but not sure if it will still be going in early October. If it is you are welcome to enjoy any harvest. Watering would only be needed if there is no rain during your stay.
