Farm sitter for organic farm run by a dynamic Ag educator and lifetime farmer
Come and enjoy a delightful farmstay at Aurora Farms. We are a 31 ac. polyculture farm that is very clean, organized, sustainable and easy to care for while the dynamic farmer/educator travels to teach farmers to farm. Farm care can be delegated to someone with a bit of background and interest in a several hours; extensive gardens and greenhouse too that will need attention. Owner will always be reachable, in and out a few times during stay in main house; farmstay folks stay in a wonderful guesthouse.
Our Home & Location
The San Juan Islands are in the very northwest region of the United States, in the state of Washington, a few miles by water from Canada. It is a stunningly beautiful area. San Juan Island is about an hour from the mainland, accessed by ferry. (www.wsdot.com) All amenities are available, but it is a very rural community of about 5000 year around, with 2x in the summer months.
Responsibilities & Pets
Chores change seasonally. About mid-October thru early February there is about 2-4 hours a day; milder months could be up to 6-8 hrs a day. Owner will spend a few overlap beginning days to ensure success for all, as well as be back and forth a few times during the full stay period. Farmstay folks have their own separate home on the farm.
