2 dogs on a river needing attention
We have 2 dogs that would rather stay at home than go to a kennel. They are young male rescue dogs that need exercise but get along well with each other and people. We have a small 1 bedroom house on the washougal river with another bedroom and bath under the garage. The house is very close to the river and it can be loud with water sound but hasn't flooded in 100 years. We have lived here for 37 years and still am amazed at the natural beauty. Herons and eagles and kingfishers are around. Downside is its on a busy road so can't walk anywhere from the house. Road noise doesn't bother us we are below the road. Our dogs are still hoping to play with our cat that is very friendly but cautious. Our other cat doesn't come into the house but stays under it and in the studio under the garage where there is a cat door. He needs to be fed once a day the dogs eat twice a day. Vigo is a mixed dog (of what is a mystery) everyone has there own opinion Hunter is an english lab he's only 15 mo. Vigo is 2 1/2 about. Single level house but about 20 ft. below driveway so need to go up and down steps there is a railing. Electric heat with wood stove if you like it toasty. Sunroom over looking the river, comfortable chairs easy to sit and drink coffee and read all day. In the summer the river is low and on hot days you can swim or not so hot float on inner tubes.
Our Home & Location
We live on the banks of the washougal river. 20 minutes from portland airport and 40 minutes from downtown. It is a very quiet and peacful location although on a busy road that isnt safe for pedestrians however there are many beautiful hikes 5-10 minutes away including the columbia river which seperates washington from oregon.
Responsibilities & Pets
Mostly feeding and exercising dogs. Will provide car and gas to take dogs to dog park. Stick shift with snow tires on. In the warmer months dogs can swim in the river but you would need to be down there to throw sticks for Hunter. Many trails nearby for leashed walks.
