3 horses, 2 dogs and a beautiful home in the Pacific Northwest
Situated at the western edge of the Columbia Gorge, our small hobby farm is a wonderful, peaceful place to relax, but also a great location to explore the spectacular scenery and attractions of northwest OR and southwest WA. We are 5 minutes by car outside of Washougal, WA and 30 minutes from Portland, OR. We have 3 horses, 2 dogs, 3 barn cats and about 20 chickens.
Our Home & Location
Our house sits on 5 acres, most of which is horse pasture. The neighbors are close enough to not feel isolated, yet far enough to have plenty of privacy. The home is an old farm house that has been completely remodeled. The downstairs is open-concept with a well appointed kitchen, perfect to cook up some fresh eggs from our chickens and vegetables from the garden. We have high-speed internet, wifi and directtv. Within short driving distance are many great hiking, running and biking trails in the Columbia Gorge and surrounding mountains. The closest grocery store is 5 min away.
Responsibilities & Pets
Horse experience required. You will be taking care of 3 Arabians, 2 dogs as well as 3 barn cats and about 20 chickens. The horses are low maintenance, they have 24/7 pasture access and get fed morning and night. There's a little bit of "seasonal" mucking in the barn (next to nothing in summer, a bit more during the wet time of the year).
Our 2 dogs are Australian Cattle Dogs, aka "velcro" dogs. They have a doggy door to get in and and out of the house, but should be kept inside at night. The cats live in the barn and get fed twice/day. And then there are the chickens, which get to roam free during the day but need to be locked up at night.
