How does house and pet sitting help me discover which dog breeds are right for me?

We’re a community where hosts open up their home to sitters when they’re away, and in return, sitters care for their pets and place like their own. This way, hosts can enjoy their trip knowing everything and everyone’s cared for back home, and sitters get to experience a new place like a local and discover what it’s like to care for a specific dog breed in a real home.

What are my tasks as a sitter?

House and pet sitting lets you travel to new places, stay longer, and experience a place the way it’s meant to be lived, all while caring for someone’s pets and home. The host will give you clear instructions about walks, feeding times, playtime, and cuddles. You’ll also send them regular updates, so they know their pup is safe and happy at home. Hosts may also ask you to water plants, take out the rubbish and recycling, and collect the post.

We ask all hosts to fill in a Welcome Guide with important details and instructions. The host will share this document with you after the sit is confirmed.

Do I get paid as a sitter?

No, hosts do not pay sitters for care. Both sides join through membership, and play their part to make the stay work.

What happens if something goes wrong?

Whatever plan you choose, you can contact our Membership Services team 24/7.

All our plans also include a Money Back Promise. Which means if you don’t confirm any sits within 14 days of making your fifth application, you’ll get your money back.

Both our Standard and Premium plans include access to a 24/7 Vet Advice Line during a sit. So you can phone, chat or video call veterinary experts if you need to.

As a Standard or Premium member, you can enjoy extra peace of mind with our Accident and Third Party Liability Plan. If a pet causes damage or injury, you’re covered for up to $1,000,000 USD (or currency equivalent).

And finally, all Premium sitters also benefit from our Sit Cancellation Plan. If your host cancels last minute, you’ll get up to $150 USD or currency equivalent per night (and up to $1,500 USD per sit) to cover the cost of alternative accommodation.
