Issy's Bristol itinerary

Coffee

Go to Artichoke in Fishponds for a quick coffee and pastry. Visit Can’t Dance Coffee in Clifton for something a bit more of a sit-down.

Get a sandwich and coffee to-go at East Village Vegan Cafe, and enjoy it in Victoria Square nearby.

Root in the city center is an absolute favorite. Koocha, Baba Ganoush, COR, and The Canteen are high on the list, too.

Go to the Tobacco Factory Sunday Market in Southville. Try everything on offer, then browse the thrift stores on North Street.

Better Food is great for organic produce. Five Acre Farm in Southville has a similar vibe and lots of local produce.

Go to Oldbury Court in Fishponds, walk along the river to Snuff Mills, and it’ll feel like you’re far away from the city.

Visit the community saunas, take a pottery class at the Community Pottery, and go to the city farms. Windmill Hill City Farm and St Werburgh’s City Farm are both worth a wander. Clifton Lido has a lovely sauna, and is great for a swim and lunch.

Issy - Bristol explorer

Issy's picks span the whole city, from the Sunday Market in Southville to the City Farm in St Werburgh’s and the community saunas she swears by. "Bristol is a city, but it feels like lots of villages pushed together. You can walk everywhere and explore, and each area has its own vibe. Bristol never feels touristy. There are lots of hidden local spots, and it’s incredibly independent compared to other places. You can always get a seat at the pub in Bristol."

Will's Montpelier itinerary

Coffee

Better Food on Sevier Street is a great independent cafe and deli just down the road from where Will and Issy were staying.

Go to Caper and Cure on Stokes Croft to eat at a fantastic neighborhood restaurant with a brilliant menu.

Montpelier's hilly streets and colorful houses are worth wandering with no particular destination in mind.

Visit Gloucester Road. It’s one of the longest stretches of independent shops in the UK, and perfect for an aimless exploration.

Stokes Croft is full of street art, shops, and cafes. The whole stretch has an amazing independent spirit.

The Star and Garter on Brook Road has great beers, DJs, and a fantastic atmosphere. Especially on a Friday night.

Montpelier has shops and cafes on every corner. Everything you need is right on your doorstep.

Will - Montpelier explorer

Will’s picks are all within walking distance of their temporary front door in Montpelier: the independent deli on Sevier Street, the restaurant on Stokes Croft, and the pub at the end of the road where he felt right at home. "One Friday evening, I wandered down to The Star and Garter at the end of the street. Great beers, music, DJs, and good vibes. The kind of pub where you instantly feel like a regular. It summed up what Montpelier is all about.”

Frequently asked questions

*How did you calculate the statistic on amount of money saved?

Estimated savings are calculated by multiplying the duration of each sitter's stay by the average nightly hotel rate for the region. There is no nightly accommodation rate for TrustedHousesitters members. These figures are illustrative and based on regional averages; actual hotel costs vary by location, season and room type. Will and Issy’s savings are based on a single Montpelier sit (Feb 23 - Mar 14, 2026). South West England regional Average Daily Rate: £97/night, February 2026 (+4% year on year). Bristol-specific hotel rate data is not publicly available; the South West England regional average is used as a proxy. Our platform connects pet parents with sitters who like to spend time with wonderful pets and experience new places. There’s an annual subscription for both pet parents and sitters to join our community. This gives everyone unlimited access to our site. So pet parents can post multiple dates to find a sitter throughout the year. And sitters can apply to as many sits as they want and connect with many different pet parents.

No, our members are driven by a genuine love of pets, not money. They exchange loving pet care for a place to stay on their travels, gaining a wealth of experiences and memories to last a lifetime.

Both pet parents and sitters pay for an annual membership to get access to our platform and connect with each other, but no money changes hands between members.

Essentially, all that’s exchanged between pet parents and sitters is trust. Sitters get to stay in cool locations near and far, caring for pets while pet parents travel.

So we know everyone is here for the same reason: their never-ending love for pets and travel.

The first thing to do is to register for free. Once you’ve registered, you can explore our platform and decide which membership plan is right for you. We offer three annual memberships – Basic, Standard and Premium.

After you’ve chosen and paid for your membership, you can create your profile. This is your chance to introduce yourself, describe your experience with pets and add external references. Your membership also covers the cost of getting verified – we recommend doing this as soon as possible to build trust with pet parents.

When you’re all set up, you can search for listings that match the dates you want to sit. You can also set up a saved search and we’ll notify you when house sitting opportunities become available for your dates.

When you find the ideal sit, you can apply by writing a personalized message to the pet parent, explaining why you’re the perfect sitter.

Your number one priority when house sitting will be taking care of the pets. Pet parents will give you clear instructions about daily walks, feeding times, playtime and cuddles. You’ll also send daily updates to them, so they know their pets are happy and enjoying their time with you.

As a house sitter, you need to keep the home you stay in clean and tidy too. Pet parents may also ask you to water plants, take out the rubbish and recycling, and collect the post for example.

We ask all pet parents to fill in a Welcome Guide with important details and instructions. We’ll share this document with you as soon as the sit is confirmed.

When you browse listings, make sure you read the details in the sitter’s responsibilities section. Pet parents usually list all their pets’ needs and requirements there – whether it’s giving them a pill with their food or an insulin shot.

This should help you decide whether you have the experience to meet specific pet needs.

We also recommend meeting pet parents face to face or via video to discuss responsibilities and expectations before you confirm a sit.
