I've known Paul as a colleague and a friend for close to 30 years. We worked together at the Humane Society of Ramsey County (St. Paul, Minnesota), where Paul was the Executive Director. Paul did a lot to improve quality of care for the shelter animals via infrastructure and staffing upgrades. He also worked tirelessly to improve both the quality and number of adoptions, and was a fervent advocate for spay-and-neuter and no-kill shelter policies. Paul was a great foster parent to an African parrot named "Bottom;" during Paul's stint at the Humane Society, Bottom was a constant fixture in his office. Paul is a very personable, dependable, ethical and kind person, with a demonstrated commitment to caring about our animal friends. I have no doubt that he'd be an excellent pet-sitter.
