I have known Lisa and Bill Haneberg for the last two years as both neighbors and now friends after our lives intersected when we moved into the same community in the Albuquerque, NM (USA) area. I was immediately stricken by their energy, interests that overlapped mine, and their deep devotion to their adopted dog Hazel. Although I’ve not had an opportunity to ask them to housesit my three dogs, I wouldn’t hesitate if the need arose. Their trustworthiness is exceptional; their knowledge of pets and skills, top notch. I’ve observed these skills with their elderly dog Hazel, demonstrating that both Lisa and Bill were patient in training and setting boundaries for her, especially in light of the fact that when Hazel was first brought into their home, she was anxious and in need of feeling loved and secure—something that had been missing in her previous life. Today, Hazel is definitely happy at 15-plus years of age, loved and safe due to the diligent positive training and care provided by Lisa and Bill. Their backyard is escape-proof with a high cinderblock wall. It has areas of shade and sun to accommodate Hazel’s needs and is filled to the brim with lovely herbs, fruits and other natural dog-safe plantings. They take Hazel on walks, play games with her, reward her with small nutritious treats, and regularly soothe her with talk and their physical presence. To be a dog (or cat) under Lisa and Bill’s care would approximate paradise. Their kindness, understanding of canines’ and pet needs, and ongoing dedicated care can be counted on no matter the circumstances. I myself have three dogs and am extraordinarily particular about the socialization skills, obedience skills and home environment I demand of myself for my own fur family members. My neighbors and friends Lisa and Bill are the same, and I can wholeheartedly offer my highest recommendation regarding their ability to care for other dogs in a safe environment. Feel free to contact me with any questions. Thank you. Kat Richter-Sand, Ed.D swkathrs@gmail.com 505.220.7155

Why we want to house sit
We love traveling and we love meeting new pets - a win-win. And since we're retired, we love the idea of keeping our travel expenses lower when possible. That makes house and pet sitting a win-win-win!
