Community Forum: February round-up

From senior pets to sit dealbreakers, muddy pups and athletic cats, it’s all been happening on our Community Forum the last couple of months! As always, our members shared honest experiences, helpful feedback, and tips throughout every conversation — let’s get into it below.

Discussion of the month

@bakindoki — TrustedHousesitters member and pet sitter — wanted to hear about the ‘dealbreakers’ that might put other members off applying for a sit, and how to express them on their profile.

The question sparked an interesting conversation over on the forum — while @BonnyInBrighton highlighted cleanliness, @MaggieUU said they express a preference for non-smoking homes during the application process.

If you’re curious to hear more about the things that put sitters off, click below and explore the thread.

Forum member shout-out

@Crosswords_and_puzzles is always sharing helpful advice with fellow members. As both a pet sitter and pet parent, they’re able to share handy tips and rounded feedback on their experience with TrustedHousesitters.

In our discussion “Who’s the most athletic pet you’ve ever met?”, @Toreishi shared little Spoon with the world! Giving the Olympic ski jumpers a run for their money, her small but mighty feline friend is able to leap the 2.5-meter (8-foot) drop from the bedroom window  — both in and out!

Meanwhile on The Muddy Dog thread (which if you’re not familiar already — it’s a gallery dedicated to the most adorable pups who aren’t afraid of wet weather!), @Felinelover shared a photo of their 8-month-old pup — who dove snout-first while ‘helping’ to dig for clams on the Oregon coast.

What else has been going on in the community?

Pet parent @Emmieo has a senior dog with Degenerative Myelopathy, and wanted to know whether sitters avoid a home with a senior dog

Experienced sitters weighed in, sharing their varied thoughts and views on caring for a dog in their golden years.

@Happypets said, “We’ve cared for many oldies and love to do so”, while @Treeandcathugger said they “cannot take such a sit on personally”.

With opinions on all sides, it became quickly clear that it all comes down to personal preference — and that there’s a sitter out there for almost every pup.

Meanwhile after a misunderstanding with a sitter, @iDocSteve was looking for opinions on the conversation between the two, and received some great feedback and support from fellow members. Sometimes our forum is just the sounding board our members need!

An exciting update from us

We’ve improved the app experience for Combined members — they’re now able to switch between dedicated sitter and owner spaces with the tap of a button. We love to hear from you, so we’re collecting feedback on the forum — head over to have your say if you’re a Combined member.
