The TrustedHousesitters booking fee is charged to both sitters and owners each time a sit is confirmed, and applies to all of our members except those on a Premium plan. The booking fee helps to fund the services behind each sit and encourages commitment from both sides.

What’s the difference between the booking fee and the TrustedHousesitters annual membership fee?

Who pays the TrustedHousesitters booking fee?
All owners and sitters except those on our Premium plan pay a booking fee once each sit is confirmed.
If you’re already a member and love to travel or welcome sitters often, it’s worth considering an upgrade to our Premium membership plan. Premium members don’t pay a booking fee as they pay a bit more upfront with their annual membership, which gives them access to benefits like our Sit Cancellation Plan.

TrustedHousesitters membership options
When will the booking fee take effect?
All of our members except those on our Premium plan will start paying the booking fee after their next membership renewal. Any existing sits confirmed before renewal won’t include a booking fee.
When will I be charged?
You’ll only be charged the booking fee once a sit is confirmed by both the owner and the sitter. You won’t be charged while applying for sits, sending messages or using any of the platform’s other features.
How much is the TrustedHousesitters booking fee?
The TrustedHousesitters booking fee is £9/$12 (or local equivalent), and is the same across the web and app.
Members outside the US will pay the equivalent in their local currency - the exact amount in your local currency is shown before you pay - so there are never any surprises.

Both sitters and owners are charged the booking fee once the sit is confirmed, and the booking fee will only apply once your membership renews - any sits confirmed before this date won’t include a booking fee.
Does the TrustedHousesitters booking fee apply to me?
The booking fee applies to all of our members except those on our Premium plan. Our Premium members pay a little more upfront for their annual membership, which means they skip the booking fee and get access to other membership benefits, like our Sit Cancellation Plan.
How does the booking fee affect my TrustedHousesitters membership?
Until your renewal date, everything continues as normal. From your next renewal date, all of your confirmed sits will include a booking fee if you’re not on our Premium plan.
Do Premium members pay a booking fee?
No, TrustedHousesitters members with a Premium membership plan don’t pay a booking fee because they pay a little more upfront for their annual membership, and get access to other membership benefits like our Sit Cancellation Plan.
What happens if I refer a friend?
If you refer a friend, you’ll still get two months free for every friend that joins (and the friends you’ve referred will get 25% off their membership). Once the two months are over, you’ll then pay for your membership and booking fee as normal.
Do sitters get paid at TrustedHousesitters?
Nope - our sitters are here for the love of pets and travel. Motivated by opportunities to explore the world with new furry friends by their side, nothing is exchanged between pet parents and sitters except loving pet care and a place to stay on their travels.
Do pet parents or homeowners get paid at TrustedHousesitters?
No, pet parents and homeowners don’t get paid here at TrustedHousesitters - nothing is exchanged between sitters and owners but in-home pet care and a home to stay in during sitter travels.

Please make sure you have the latest version of the app installed. You can also read our terms and conditions via this link, which you can access via your browser.
Why is the booking fee appearing before my renewal date?
If you’re seeing a booking fee appear before your renewal date, it’s likely because you’re using an older version of the TrustedHousesitters app. Older versions don’t fully support the updated booking flow, which means the confirmation screen may incorrectly show a booking fee before your renewal date. This is a display issue only - rest assured, even if you confirm the sit, no booking fee will be charged. You will only pay a booking fee for sits confirmed after your next renewal (Premium members remain exempt). Please update to the latest version of the app so your experience matches the information you received in your communications.
