We’re always looking for ways to make TrustedHousesitters even better for all of our members - that’s why we’re introducing two-factor authentication. It’s a simple step that’ll help to keep your account more secure than ever.

To keep you in the loop, below we explore everything you need to know to feel confident in the security of your TrustedHousesitters account.

What is TrustedHousesitters two-factor authentication?

TrustedHousesitters two-factor authentication is a simple extra step that uses a quick code from your email to keep your account secure. When you log in, you’ll receive a one-time code by email to confirm it’s really you. You’ll then enter the code at login, and you’ll be in your account in no time.

TrustedHousesitters two-factor authentication: a quick step-by-step rundown

  1. Enter your email and password.
  2. You’ll receive a one-time code in your inbox.
  3. Enter the code to access your account.

Why is TrustedHousesitters introducing two-factor authentication?

Two-factor authentication is a common and simple way to improve the security of any account where you’re required to login with an email address.

We’re introducing two-factor authentication here at TrustedHousesitters to keep our members’ accounts safe and protected, ensuring only our members can log in.

I’m an existing member - what does this mean for me?

As part of our commitment to your safety, we’re adding this new layer of simple security to your account over the next few months - there is nothing extra for you to set up.

Once we add two-factor authentication to your account, you’ll be asked to enter a code that’s been sent to your email each time you try to log in. You’ll then enter this code which gives you access to your account, and stops anyone else from getting in.

All your sensitive account details and communications with other members remain private - giving you extra peace of mind, every time you log in.

I’m thinking about joining TrustedHousesitters - what does this mean for me?

If you’re not a member right now and you’re yet to choose your TrustedHousesitters membership plan, two-factor authentication will be built into your account from the day you join - there is nothing extra for you to set up.

With two-factor authentication, your new account will be kept safe and secure, giving you peace of mind that your private information is kept that way.

A quick email code gets sent, and you’ll access your account by entering the code. With nothing extra to set up, getting into your account securely has never been easier.

TrustedHousesitters two-factor authentication: FAQs

What is two-factor authentication?

Two-factor authentication is a way of adding an extra layer of security to your account. When you log in, you’ll enter your password as usual, then confirm it’s really you by entering a quick code sent to your email.

Why is TrustedHousesitters introducing two-factor authentication?

Your safety is our top priority. Two-factor authentication helps prevent anyone but you from accessing your account even if they somehow get your password. It’s a simple way to keep your personal information secure and give you extra peace of mind.

How does two-factor authentication work with TrustedHousesitters?

When you log in:

  1. Enter your email and password.
  2. You’ll receive a one-time code in your inbox.
  3. Enter the code to access your account.

And that’s it - quick, easy, and secure.

Do I need to set anything up?

No setup required! You’ll automatically receive the security code by email whenever you log in.

How often will I need to enter a code?

You’ll be asked to enter a new code each time you log in. This helps keep your account protected at all times.

What if I don’t receive my email code?

If you don’t see the code right away, try these steps:

  • Check your spam or junk folder.
  • Make sure you’re checking the same email address linked to your TrustedHousesitters account.
  • If the code still hasn’t arrived after a few minutes, click “Resend code.”

What if I can’t access my email?

You’ll need access to your email to complete login with TrustedHousesitters two-factor authentication. If you’re having trouble accessing your email account, contact your email provider for help. Once you regain access, you can log in as usual.

How does TrustedHousesitters two-factor authentication work for Duo Sitters?

If you’re a Duo Sitter, only the main account holder receives this code. Your companion will still be fully verified and appear on your listing, but they don’t log in separately. To make things smooth, make sure the main account holder can access their registered email whenever you log in together - especially when travelling.

What if I travel with a partner or friend?

If you travel with a companion and use one TrustedHousesitters account, just make sure the account holder can access their email to complete the two-factor authentication step. We know many members sit together, and this won’t stop that! It just helps keep your account safe and secure while you travel.

If I travel with a partner or friend, can both of us log in to manage our sits?

For security, only the account holder should log in. Sharing login details increases the chance of lockouts or confusion, especially now that two-factor authentication is in place. If you sit as a pair, Duo Sitter is the best way to keep both of you verified while using a single, secure account.

Will TrustedHousesitters two-factor authentication change how I use the platform?

Not at all! It just adds one quick, secure step at login. Everything else about your experience stays the same.

Is two-factor authentication available for both sitters and owners?

Yes, two-factor authentication now protects every member of the TrustedHousesitters community. Whether you’re a sitter or an owner, your account is safer than ever.

I’m a new TrustedHousesitters member - what do I need to know about two-factor authentication?

Two-factor authentication is already built in for new members. From day one, your account is protected with the same simple, secure process: just enter the email code when you log in.

What’s the main benefit of two-factor authentication?

Peace of mind. Two-factor authentication ensures that your account and personal details are secure, as only you can access them.

I’m locked out of my account, what can I do?

If you’re locked out of your account, contact our helpful Membership Services team who will be happy to help.

What if I don’t have access to the email address on the account?

You’ll need access to the email address associated with your TrustedHousesitters membership to retrieve the code and log in. If you’re not the main account holder, just make sure they can access their email to complete the two-factor authentication step.

When will two-factor authentication be on my account?

We’re gradually rolling out two-factor authentication across all of our members - it will appear on your account in the next few months.

Can I share feedback about TrustedHousesitters two-factor authentication?

Sure - feel free to share your thoughts about two-factor authentication on the TrustedHousesitters Community Forum.
