Happy fur-ever after: Sophie & Harvey's story

When Sophie and Harvey welcomed Murphy – their one-year-old Cockapoo – into their lives in December 2024, they knew things were about to change. Their “gentle, cuddly, playful little boy” had never been left before, and with travel plans coming up, they wanted to make sure Murphy could stay happy and comfortable in his own home.

A friend suggested TrustedHousesitters, and it felt like the perfect fit.

Soon after bringing Murphy home, the couple joined TrustedHousesitters and started planning a family trip to Scotland in May. With plenty of time to create their listing and explore the platform, they felt confident about finding the right sitter for Murphy.

When they came across Ella, a local sitter, they decided to reach out and have a chat online. Since she was also based in Hampshire, Ella popped over to meet Sophie, Harvey, and Murphy for a dog walk.

Murphy took to her straight away, and as their very first sitter, Ella was able to share a bit more about how TrustedHousesitters works. Everyone agreed it was the perfect match, and the sit was set!

Murphy adored Ella, and it didn’t take long for Sophie and Harvey to realise they’d found their go-to sitter. As soon as Ella’s first sit finished, they asked if she’d like to care for Murphy while they travelled to Corfu, Greece, at the end of September.

While Sophie and Harvey were enjoying the sunshine in Corfu, something even more special happened – they got engaged! They couldn’t wait to share the news with Ella and Murphy.

But when they returned home, they walked into the most heartwarming surprise!

“We came home to an amazing amount of decorations, balloons and banners which were so so sweet, as well as flowers and a card with Murphy's face on it – all wishing us a very happy engagement and a happy ‘fur-ever’ after! It was really the sweetest return and so generous of everyone involved. It certainly made coming home from holiday a lot easier!”

“Murphy immediately feels at ease with Ella, which allows us to relax on our trip without any worries. We certainly wouldn't have enjoyed our holiday as much if we hadn't had Ella return.”

The couple have stayed in touch with Ella and even shared updates about Murphy, including his recent birthday celebration!

“We whipped up some peanut butter & banana pupcakes, which were just as delicious for us as they were for Murphy! We celebrated his day with a long walk, a birthday meal with his favourite humans, and lots of presents – he’s one very spoilt boy!”

Now, Sophie and Harvey can’t imagine traveling without TrustedHousesitters – or without Ella.

“Murphy would really love to see her again!”

With plans to go away again next year (and maybe even add another furry friend to the family), they know they can count on TrustedHousesitters to make it all possible.
