Dallas attractions

Let’s start with Dallas’s major attractions – the real sightseeing sights that anyone visiting this Texas metropolis should most definitely put on their bucket list:

  1. Dallas Museum of Art: Dallas is known for its abundant arts and culture scene, with museums, theatres, and galleries sprinkling the entire city. One of the most famous museums in Dallas is the Dallas Museum of Art, which houses more than 24,000 exhibits, spanning almost 5,000 years of art history. The museum was built in 1970 and offers 159,000 square feet of exhibition spaces, which makes it one of the largest museums in the entire United States.
  2. Perot Museum of Nature and Science: If you love museums but are more of a science than art fan, then have a look at the Perot Museum of Nature and Science. True to its name, the museum features an exciting, interactive permanent exhibition whose topics range from the origins of life and anthropology to sports, modern engineering and space travel.
  3. Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden: Should you be out and about on a sunny day and wondering: “What to do in Dallas today?”, we suggest you take a trip to the beautiful Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden. The site covers more than 66 acres and consists of 19 named gardens full of colourful flower arrangements, scenic walkways, intriguing sculptures, quiet ponds, and secret hideaways for you to discover. Should you visit Dallas in September or October, you’ve got even more reason to go: Every Autumn, the Arboretum celebrates its Autumn at the Arboretum festival, during which the entire Garden is decorated with 90,000 pumpkins, gourds, and squashes.
  4. Reunion Tower Views: Ever wanted to see all of Dallas at once? A trip to Reunion Tower is your chance! The 561 ft tower comes with its own observation deck at the top, which offers breath-taking 360-degree views of the entire city.
  5. The Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza: Dallas has many fascinating sights to offer, and while some of them enchant visitors with exciting facts or amazing views, others are intriguing for the things that once happened there. Among the latter is the Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza, the very site where the famous 35th president of the United States of America was assassinated on 22 Nov 1963. The museum’s exhibition examines the life, work, death, and legacy of President John F. Kennedy and is the informative counterpart to the simple, symbolic JFK Monument at Memorial Plaza.

Free things to do in Dallas

You love to go on sightseeing and photo tours through the city but are on a tight budget? Well, then let’s discover what to do in Dallas, Texas, that doesn’t require any money, shall we?

  1. The John F. Kennedy Memorial Plaza & Monument: The John F. Kennedy Memorial Plaza is located just one block from Dealey Plaza and its Sixth Floor Museum and features its eponymous monument, built in honour of the assassinated 35th president of the United States. The structure is simple but intriguing and was originally meant for reflection and remembrance, whereas its counterpart museum on Dealey Plaza provides visitors with a plethora of interesting facts about JFK and his achievements.
  2. Klyde Warren Park: Should you be pet sitting right at the border between Uptown and Downtown Dallas and are still looking for a nice place to walk your protégé pooch, have a look at this little green oasis here: Klyde Warren Park. Spanning over 5 acres, the park features a fun variety of active and passive spaces, including playgrounds and game areas, reading nooks beside beautiful fountains, a restaurant and performance stage, and even designated dog parks.
  3. Bishop Arts District: Not too far from Klyde Warren Park is the Bishop Arts District, Dallas’s hip hipster district, chock-full of small galleries, alternative shops, inspired street art, indie stages, and homey bars and restaurants. If you’re looking to spend a few fun hours out after your new pet buddy has had their supper and is cosily snoozing at home, this is where you’ll wanna go!
  4. Cattle Drive Sculptures: Remember when we told you Dallas was known for its art? The Cattle Drive Sculptures on Pioneer Plaza are another installation any art lover should visit. The enormous installation, created by Robert Summers, consists of 49 bronze steers and 3 trail riders and commemorates the cattle drives that took place along the Shawnee Trail during the 19th century. Each sculpture is six feet high, and combined, they form the largest bronze monument of its kind in the entire world.
