Known as the Keystone State thanks to its role in building US foundations, Pennsylvania is home to many written milestones, including the Declaration of Independence, the U.S. Constitution and the Gettysburg Address.

Being one of the original founding States isn’t all that PA has to offer though, with an abundance of historic landmarks from the Liberty Bell in Philadelphia and the Gettysburg battle sites to explore. Whether it’s taking a picture with the Liberty Bell overlooking Independence Hall, running like Rocky and enjoying the spectacular view of the Benjamin Franklin Parkway and the city skyline, or refuelling with a famous Philly cheesesteak, the unique experiences to be had in Philadelphia are second to none. 

2. Pittsburgh: Just West of Pennsylvania is Pittsburgh, famous for its Gilded Age sites such as the Carnegie Museum of Natural History, Museum of Art and the Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens. Looking for something more contemporary? Head to the North Shore neighborhood for the Andy Warhol Museum, Heinz Field football stadium and the PNC Park baseball stadium.

3. Gettysburg: For history buffs there’s no better place than a visit to Gettysburg. The borough is regarded for the Gettysburg National Battlefield, as well as the Gettysburg Museum with Civil War artifacts and the National Cemetery where you can see the memorial of Abraham Lincoln’s 1863 Gettysburg Address.

The Valley is home to some nationally-recognized events like Musikfest in the summer and the Easton Winter Village during Christmas so regardless of the time of year you visit, there’s always something fun to experience.

We recommend visiting The 1719 Herr House – the oldest structure and the oldest Mennonite meetinghouse in Lancaster County. Built by the Herr family as their residence and their community's meetinghouse, it is the only remaining dwelling of the very first group of settlers in the area. 

2. Erie: Situated on Lake Erie, Erie is home to the Presque Isle State Park, a peninsula with beaches and trails that surrounds Presque Isle Bay. Here you can swim, boat, fish or hike as well as in-line skate, or simply just take in the beautiful coastline! If you’re more of a thrillseeker, Nearby at Waldameer Park & Water World has roller coasters and waterslides.

3. Delaware Water Gap: Visit the Delaware Water Gap for stunning panoramic views of river valleys and peaceful forests. Head to the McDade Recreational Trail to spend a day at the beach. If you’re visiting in fall, you won’t want to miss the breathtaking foliage. Planning a winter visit?
