Dogs are truly a treasure to behold — from their unwavering love to the endless hours of joy they bestow upon us, there’s a reason why dogs are crowned ‘man’s best friend’.

But with the festive season looming just around the corner, it got us thinking. What would happen if this year, dogs ran Christmas? Here are five predictions that we think would happen…

1. Instead of greeting your guests with a handshake or a hug, a butt sniff would suffice

It’s the warmest welcome a dog could give!

2. The three-second food rule would be banished

Making it all the easier for food-loving pooches to hoover up the discarded scraps.

3. Unlimited Christmas Day walks would definitely be a thing

4. Dogs would get twice the amount of presents — and they would all squeak

Which the humans wouldn’t mind, because, after all, there’s nothing quite as fun (or as chaotic) as watching a dog rip open their presents on Christmas Day. Oh, and don't forget that these presents would be accompanied by copious outdoor Christmas dog decorations to make yard zoomies ten times more fun!

5. Finally, none of this ‘no dogs on the sofa’ business

When dogs run Christmas, sofas = official dog property.

Wondering what Christmas would be like if cats ruled instead? We’ve thought of that, too. Here are 5 things that would happen if cats ran Christmas.
